Co-Host Coach's Corner and Host, Hometown Hockey

Watching Ron MacLean has been a Canadian tradition for twenty-five years. Known for his quick wit and encyclopedic hockey knowledge, MacLean reaches millions of homes across the country on Canada’s most-watched weekly program, Hockey Night in Canada, and as the host of Hometown Hockey. He has interviewed the greatest players, coaches, and personalities in the sport and is a master of seeking the best in substance and entertainment from his guests, as well as from his opinionated and often irascible co-host on Coach’s Corner, Don Cherry. As a speaker or emcee, Ron’s thoughtful insights, thrilling stories, and engaging style will entertain audiences from coast to coast.

Throughout his 20-plus-year career with the CBC, MacLean’s role expanded to include hosting CBC’s coverage of the Olympic and Commonwealth Games, World Cup Hockey, the Calgary Stampede, and the Queen’s Plate. MacLean was also the host of the reality program Battle of the Blades, and is the new host of Hometown Hockey.

MacLean is a multi-Gemini Award winner and a two-time recipient of the George Gross Award, honouring excellence in sports broadcasting and a former Level 5 referee for the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association. In 2011, MacLean published his bestselling book, Cornered, co-authored by Kirstie McLellan Day. The book chronicles his journey from childhood to the host of one of Canada’s most celebrated television programs.
